Why is it Important to Stop Gum Disease?
gum disease treatment
You may wonder why it is important to end periodontal disease. But besides your teeth starting to look bad, and your gums bleeding there is much more to it than that. It can be linked to many different medical problems too.
When you first notice that brushing or flossing is causing your gums to bleed you should realize something is wrong. This is the first hint you will have that you are in the beginning stages of gingivitis. This is a good time to think about thera breath products. Getting to see your dentist immediately should be what you do, and then you should begin brushing and flossing more often.
It's recommended that you brush at least two times a day, and that you brush continuously for three minutes. But after you eat something that is full of sugar, or drink a soda, you should also brush your teeth at that time. You could also utilize a hydro floss. It seems a bit redundant to brush too many times, doesn't it?
Researchers believe that this problem can lead to such serious problems as heart disease, strokes, respiratory problems, osteoporosis, and diabetes. Plus you could lose teeth and your overall appearance may not be as appealing.
You've seen people who've had advanced stages of gum disease, and how their teeth look. If you don't stop your gum disease when you can that's what you have to look forward too. Besides that the bacteria that is eating away at your gums and teeth can enter your blood and travel to other parts of the body.
Don't let this disease side line you with a stroke just because you're too worried about going to the dentist. Get that problem taken care of when you first notice that your gums are no longer the healthy pink they should be. When you see puffiness in your gums, or notice that they are pulling away from your teeth, take immediate action.

Treat Periodontal Disease, Chicago, with Lasers -
All that plaque is below your gumlike and salt water won't do a darned thing. You need to go to a periodontist and have your teeth cleaned by deep scaling.
You will never regain LOST GUM which is what periodontal disease is. Once the roots of your teeth are exposed, only surgery to raise up the gumline surgically might help.
So brush and floss and avoid getting it altogether. If only you knew then what you know now right?

I agree, people DON´T suck for smoking, it´s just a bad ADICTIVE habit...I smoke and really want to stop. any tips please?...ohh, I´m not a heavy smoker,
I don't brush my teeth at all. I use a toothpck all day to keep my gums strong. and I go to the dentist for a NO2 cleaning 4 times a year. great gums, no cavities.
Sounds good, thank you for the comment!
tell them what you just said. tell them you hate being labeled perfect and its getting on your nerves, but in a nice way. tell them that they should be happy with what they have and that they are perfectly fine how they are. its not good wanting something that someone else has. i really dont think youre bragging. it sounds more like complaining to me...
any way remember to be nice and do not take what you have for granted!!
I found Tom's work a # of years ago and am so grateful for his dedication to this vital subject. Dentistry is SO expensive and I applaud Tom for ensuring that Dr. Nara's information is avail. I bought an irrigator from Tom that you attach to your sink faucet & I truly love it. I also ensure that I keep my mouth as non-acidic as possible. My success is not as good as Tom's as I had a ton of large fillings as a child. Find the yahoo groups Tom facilitates. Powerful info! Tell people w-limited $.
Going to the dentist. Not my favorite way to start the day

hi,
actually yes the bone deteriorates at a faster rate the first 6 months following extractions, then keeps resorbing at a much slower rate the following years, ir the bone becomes too thin, it will be prone to fractures, especially that of the lower jaw. This can be intercepted by construction of a prosthesis as a complete denture, with or without implants.
you should know that there is two types of bone inside your mouth, the alveolar bone, which is the bone surronding teeth, this is the bone that will resorb following extractions, it's mostly spongy. the bone beneath it is called Basal bone, it is more of a compact bone, denser, thus it doesnt resorb.
you should get a complete denture constructed for you at your dentist asap, if you want it to be retained by implants, that will depend on the amount of bone remaining, of course it will cost much more.

I am a dental hygienist and the best way to keep your gums healthy is daily flossing and using a mouthrinse daily. The two mouthrinses that we recommend is Crest Pro Health or Listerine. Crest Pro Health does not have alcohol like Listerine does so it does not burn as much. As for the bleeding while you floss, that could also be caused by improper flossing. You should see your dental hygienist every six months for regular cleanings and ask her or him to show you the correct method for flossing and use one of these two rinses.
Your best solution is a electric tooth brush. It doesn't matter which kind as long as it is a rechargeable one. We recommend this to everyone of our patients. The one I like is Sonic, this is because the Oral B feels like you have a jackhammer in your mouth. The Oral B at first tickles a little, but I would take that any day over the Oral B.
Get him on a better kibble for 1 and for 2 you should try to brush its teeth. I just got my finger all tore up from brushing my 8 yr old cats teeth so good luck lol, but it has to be done. Try sitting on him between your legs with someone holding his front feet, don't put all your weight on him and try not to hurt him with pulling his legs etc. but if it's anything like my cat he will fight you on it. Also they make a spray you just spray in their mouth at petco or petsmart. Thats what I'm trying next. Good luck
use corsodyl mouthwash to treat bleeding gums and symptoms of gum disease. it contains chlorhexidine an antiseptic.
salt would have little benefit as it is quickly removed by your saliva and any astringent (blood stopping) effect is short lived.

You really don't have to waste all of your money on this stuff.
Question: Do you feed your dog hard kibble or wet canned food?
If you feed her canned food then switch to kibble, because kibble GREATLY reduces the amount of tartar on your dog's teeth and doesn't give it bad breath.
Also you can give your dog milk bones and dentastix. The milk bones give your dog a clean breath and the dentastix prevents and removes all or most tartar.
Dog's aren't humans. They don't get cavities and they don't get super bad breath like we do.
They obviously also don't like getting their teeth brushed, they don't like the foamy texture of the toothpaste and they don't like the smell.
Honestly, you're wasting money.
All you need are a few breath refreshing treats and tartar reducing treats.
EDIT: You can also take your dog to the vet twice a year, every six months, like how often we go to the dentist, and tell the vet to brush and floss your dog's teeth. Some vets, not all, offer this service.
