Using Vitamins and Supplements to Treat Your Asthma
In the U.S. alone, there are over ten million people who suffer from asthma. Many physicians consider asthma to be an epidemic because it so widespread. Exposure to noxious chemicals in the air and environmental pollution are usually held responsible for contributing to this disease. There is an increase in the number of people dying from asthma, mostly because the warning signs are being ignored.
While an asthma attack is in progress, the lung's airways start to swell and secrete mucus. Soon they will start to spasm. It becomes harder to breathe as the airways become narrower. Breathlessness, coughing, wheezing, congestion, a dry mouth, fever and pain are all symptoms that can appear during an asthma attack.
Just about anything can trigger an attack. Upper respiratory infections, overexertion, poor nutrition, and stress are frequent causes, and allergies are the most typical trigger of an asthma attack.
Many attacks are a result of contact with irritants like pollen, gas odors, smoke, and exhaust fumes. An attack can also be brought on by certain foods such as peanuts, corn, dairy or chocolate. Antibiotics, hormone therapy and tranquilizers are also possible triggers.
There are a number of herbal, mineral and vitamin supplements that can be used for asthma treatment. The most important of these is Vitamin B. It can not only reduce the severity of an attack but it will preserve your body's biochemical balance.
If you use vitamins A and E in concert they collaborate to defend your lungs from pollution. And large doses of Vitamic C have been shown to be useful in fighting asthma.
Gingko biloba is also a useful treatment to improve breathing and ease bronchial responses. Odorless garlic is also a good alternative. This supplement's anti-inflammatory properties help to lower the chances of experiencing an attack.
If you suspect that you are suffering from asthma, visit your doctor as soon as possible for a diagnosis. In the meantime, your diet should be high in protein and include plenty of fruits and vegetables that are loaded with vitamins. Also stay away from your specific triggers.
An asthma attack can be a stressful experience, however there are always ways to defend against it and keep it from negatively impacting your life. If your doctor diagnoses you with asthma, ask questions and seek advice on effective asthma remedies.
You can sometimes help to avoid an asthma attack by using natural products like vitamins and nutritional supplements. There's no reason to avoid enjoying your usual activities. It can often be managed successfully although it might slow you down somewhat.

I have a cat with asthma and she is treated with a puffer twice a day and I also have prednisone on hand for a 5 day treatments when she starts having attacks and the puffer isn't enough. Your vet should have told you all of this and you really should be doing what he recommends as your dog can die just like a human from an asthma attack if left untreated...my cat stopped breathing at one point and needed a shot. Ask your vet for options and find a group online for dogs with asthma...they can be very helpful. Also, just like people, attacks can be triggered by smoke, strong scents like candles, incense, warm weather etc...in fact my cat is on the exact same treatment as my grandmother...

I'm having a mild asthma today, that's why. Oatmeal for the heart, honey for the lungs (I think). Yum
They don't necessarily need a vet or medication. Keep an eye on them. If they have colorful discharge from their eyes or they're sneezing snot (vs clear spit) or if you can't get them to eat anything then you'll probably want to take them to the vet. Humane societies commonly deal with upper respiratory infections and kittens get adopted very quickly so they would most likely treat them and put them up for adoption. Many humane societies also have foster homes on hand that they'll send the kittens to and the kittens will be brought back when they're healthy and old enough to be spayed and adopted out. If you can't afford a vet and they're looking like they'll need antibiotics, just take them to the humane society.

I have heard that before inhalers, people used to inhale through a wet cloth. I think this draws water vapor into the lungs. Dont know if it really works. I think that it may warrant some research as a home remedy.

Raw food diet is a natural asthma remedy that addresses asthma problems at the root. Many people with long term asthma do not realize that the root cause of their asthma could be simply due to their diet. In today's modern, fast-paced world, the daily diet of most people consist mainly of processed foods. Instead of wholesome foods, we eat processed carbohydrates in our diets. And that, unknowingly to our society, is the root cause of many illnesses and diseases, which are the manifestation of a poor diet, including asthma.
