You probably already feel better but you will see actual results with the doctor's tests. This should make you want to achieve your final objective to remain smoke free the rest of your life.
Make a plan. Do you want to quit “cold turkey” or taper off slowly? Current data shows that quitting cold turkey has the best results. Your physician may also be able to offer you some quit smoking tips and possibly a prescription for a nicotine alternative. Be prepared for the various side affects that some of these medications can cause.
Make a dental appointment. See that they clean and buff your ivories. Removing the yellow from teeth comes at a price which should keep you smoke free. Not only will your teeth look and feel clean but your breath will smell better as well.
Next on the quit smoking tips list is to recognize and realize that during this nicotine withdrawal period you may experience different emotional feelings. It is very common to have moments of crabbiness or sensitivity. These feelings are easier to handle if you know why you are experiencing them. my husband quit smoking almost a year ago, he said he has been smoking since he was 14, he is 36 now,, he also told me he tried to quit before and he did it for maximum, 6 months,, i see that he was just "really willing to quit smoking",, i dont smoke at all, probably it helped him too. even when i know that the body developes an habit for nicotine i also think you really need to feel that you "really, really want to quit" all the luck for you!

It is impossible to tell whether animals experience the exact emotions that humans do, because emotions are subjective and not available for objective research. Elephants express sorrow, grief and mourning. any dog owner will tell you that dogs experience happiness and guilt, at least. One of the things that helped me was to quit doing the things that made me want a cigarette. For me, I stopped drinking wine at night, chewed gum in the morning on the way to work or ate hard candy. I realized if I just go out of my everyday routines then it made it so much easier not to smoke. I was like clock work on when I would smoke so I would do different things during those times to get my mind off of smoking. The hardest for me was not smoking before I went to bed at night but I did it. Good luck!
Nicotine withdrawel can last for a long time, but yes yu will be normal again. My dad smoked for 25 years and he has been quit for over 35 years now and still has cravings, but congrades for quiting. It's not easy. Good luck.

Go to church. Read your bible out loud. Pray that you will not give in to temptation.

Are you really saying that human beings need a "higher being" to force them to stay decent and behave decently? In that case, it seems that the past 2000 plus years of organized religion have failed miserably in this. Perhaps it's time to act decently because everyone benefits from it, not out of fear of what may happen in an "afterlife" if you don't. Morals were not invented by religion, they were invented by human beings who knew that rules were needed - commonsensical rules of behavior that apply to atheists as well. Religions were instituted by humans to offset the imperfect nature of our species. Imperfect it remains. Make your own rules for yourself and live by them. Get rid of the fear-inspiring crutch and join us.
