Understanding The Principles Of Tai chi
Everyone who starts practicing Tai Chi will need to get familiar with the principles of Tai Chi or the elements on which the exercise routine depends most.
1.Head straightening
In order to perform the exercises, you have to learn how to align the head and the neck as if they are controlled by the gravity force alone. You need to relax the neck muscles and stand straight. You will see that this first of the Tai Chi principles will make you feel better and will reduce the headaches caused by stressed neck muscles.
2.The back and chest position
In Tai Chi, breathing is essential. It is easier to breathe from the abdomen if you keep the chest slightly depressed. You have to tuck the pelvis, after slightly bowing the back outward. Follow the trainer's instructions to put this principle into practice.
3.Eliminate tension with total relaxation
From all the principles of Tai Chi, this one will show you how much tension the human body accumulates in common postures. By relaxed we don't mean limp. If you keep the joints and muscles relaxed movement will be a lot easier to conduct through, in the absence of tension.
4.The waist guides the movement
The waist is the place where every movement begins, regardless if it is a step or a hand move. The waist controls and distributes the amount of transmitted energy, which is why you need to make it the cause of the exercise.
5.The harmonization of the lower and upper body parts
The lower and upper body parts can only move harmoniously together if you keep the legs firmly on the ground with slightly bent knees. There is a flow in movement without any break. In accordance with the principles of Tai Chi the vibration is sent throughout the body by the movement initiated in the waist.
6.Smooth movements and continuous flow
Tai Chi exercises have to be even and slow. One will hardly identify the end of one exercise and the beginning of the next one.
7.The mind guides the body
The mind directs the movements, it is in control of everything. Higher self-awareness and self-consciousness will result of this overall control. Thus, every tiny movement will grow from internal calmness.
As you continue to train, the principles of Tai Chi will become a solid part of practice. When you are just discovering the potential of Tai Chi, it is best to have guidance. Then, you will be able to handle daily practice on your own.

The things you say to do are good things to do but they are not Wei Wu Wei. When we are 1 with the Dao, experience Union with God, or we are 1 with "That" from which the 10000 things arise; then it is not the individual who is "doing", it is God "Doing" through us. That is the real meaning of Wei Wu Wei, "doing without doing"
first off, let me remind u that u have the best answer to this problem. ill just say that you need to be more confident in yourself, and remember that everybody is unsure about things be it looks or ideas or questions asked in school that seemed stupid at the time but really weren't. Just ask yourself simple questions such as: do i want to feel good? who has control over my emotions? u need to value your opinion of yourself over everyone else's.
It also has to do with body alignment. In the iron cross, the palm is faced down. In this demonstration here the palm is faced out.

I read the English version (sorry, too slow in German, would take me days!) and cannot find any place for improvement in the language. One suggestion: although the science3.0 community is the team, there are clearly some key personnel here. I think it might strengthen the application to name them and make explicit their deep connections to the target community.

I want to echo CTC's sentiments in that it is impossible to learn well through long distance learning. Plus there is a sense of discipline that is gained when the instructor and fellow students are there encouraging your practice. Though, sometimes when all you can get are the occasional seminars, then that is all you can do. But a little correction from time to time is better than none. May I say, though, that I am in Houston, TX, which is a lot closer to Round Rock than NY or NM. You are more than welcome to stop by or email me whenever you have a chance.
Thank you for this.

Permit me to answer by addressing something key to the question: it may be other than beneficial to combine elements of form. Here's why: When the monk who later became known as the Buddha migrated from India to China, he took his spirituality with him. Buddhism and Taoism developed alongside each other, in the philosophical sphere, as well as the martial. They developed and spread to Japan and Korea, where they further developed. As they did, people combined elements to create their own forms, further diluting the practices. The "mother form" of qigong or tai chi, or one of the oldest forms of each, would be better. What you are really wanting is something comprehensive and that does exist. I practice "Wild Goose" qigong, which is the only form of qigong I have ever heard of that is designed for health, not martial arts. So, points are matched up through the routine in order to balance your energy for you well-being, not with the intent of building it out of balance in order to have an advantage in fighting. I heavily recommend it but it cannot be learned from a video. If you're interested, try to find a teacher who learned from the lineage holder, Master Chen, or his mother, Yang Meijune. For, this form has also been diluted by those who have taken it upon themselves to alter it.

Easier method...the center line is halfway between the mingmen point and the dantian area. When the pelvis is tucked, the huiyin point (perineum) is one of the points on the center line.
I think so. The techniques of taijiquan are focused on (more or less) dirty boxing and standing grappling -- elbows, knees, punches, palm slaps, and, most of all, nasty throws pulled from shuai jiao. There are very few kicking techniques in the system, most of which are low kicks (knee level and lower) used as entrances to reach the clinch, or as trips when closer.
The taijiquan fight strategy is to either preemptively close the distance to clinch range with a low-line kick, trip, step (footwork) or grab, or more often, to employ a "counter-punching" approach -- i.e. wait for him to attack, then attack/enter via the opening he leaves. Once in the clinch, strikes, kuzushi and throws are used to pound and sledge the opponent.
