As someone who has become a fitness and nutrition "freak" over the past 9 months, my motivation is constantly finding ways to live healthier and treat the only body I have as best I can. I have a lot of friends who have seen my success and want to also lose weight ... but they just don't want to exercise or eat better. They also want the easy way out.

Make sure you are taking prenatal vitamins, first of all. Secondly, eat healthy foods like fruits and vegetables. Stay away from raw and undercooked foods, like sushi, over-easy eggs, rare or medium-rare meats, etc. Candy and other junk food is ok in moderation. As is caffeine. About 200mg is the 'safe' limit, although I'm sure I drank way more than that, and both of my kids were fine. Milk, cheese, and other dairy is really important as well. Since the baby is getting all of his/her nutrients from you, if you aren't taking in enough calcium (or any vitamins/minerals), the baby will take it from you.
Stay hydrated, at all times. Preferably in the form of water. Juice is fine, as long as it doesn't have too much sugar. A lot of sugar isn't healthy, pregnant or not. I liked to drink the V8 splash juice because I didn't eat a lot of vegetables (and still don't), but the juice helps to ensure that I'm getting the nutrients that I need.
