The benefits of organic foods
The health benefits of organic foods have become a topic of common interest for the public opinion. Consumers' food awareness is now based on the comparisons made between organic and conventional foods, not to mention that all health organizations plead for a healthy lifestyle with natural nutrition. The evidence is yet inconclusive as to whether organic food is 100% superior to non-organic products. However, not even the most skeptical cannot deny the health benefits of organic foods.
The following examples indicate the benefits of organic foods per category:
Organic milk contains more Omega 3, vitamins and anti-oxidants than non-organic milk. This means that the impact on the body health condition can be considerable if we consider the long-term consume. Organic milk seems to support growth better, and therefore should be extensively used in babies' and children's diet.
Organic eggs reflect the benefits of organic foods better than lots of other food groups. Antibiotics, hormones and other chemical residues are present in conventional eggs, and they have a negative impact on the system. Organic eggs have a lower cholesterol content, they have a higher nutritional value and bring superior amounts of essential vitamins.
The above examples contain the general common points that are encountered in quite a lot of other foods produced according to organic standards of quality and purity. A standard evaluation of the benefits of organic foods would include the health advantages, the delicious taste, the safety of the environment and the animals welfare.
The Internet now provides the richest source of information on the benefits of organic foods. The consume of non-organic products has serious consequences on our health and on the environment, and the sooner you realize this, the better for everybody. Your preference for organic food may convince others that this is the solution to enjoying a great health condition!
In fact, the decision to go organic as much as possible represents an attempt to bring our life closer to the natural model where it has issued from. The moment a consumer becomes aware of the fact that the beautiful apples he/she eats are inflated with water or hormones, much of his/her appetite will drop. What's the good of eating something that together with nutrients also brings unnecessary substances to your body.
Hopefully, the predominance of organic food on the market will increase with people becoming more aware of the benefits of organic foods.

The only place that I know of in Idaho Falls is DC Natural Foods.
But they are small, and their selection is quite limited. It's not like Whole Foods, but then I really don't think of Whole Foods as an organic food store. Whole Foods is more of a yuppie store, with fancy gourmet items and some organics.
Anyway, if you want to check out DC Natural, here is their address:
D C Natural Foods
159 S Corner St
Idaho Falls, ID 83402
Phone: (208) 522-6964
Hope this helps. Good luck!!

Homemade Hummus
2 cloves garlic—roughly chopped
¼ cup lemon juice
¼ cup water
14 oz (400g) canned chickpeas (garbanzo beans)—rinsed and drained
½ cup tahini
1 teaspoon sea salt
PLACE all ingredients in a food processor or blender and process until smooth, scraping the sides occasionally.
Variations: If you like a spicier hummus, add a small red chili (chopped) or a pinch of cayenne pepper, or try a little cumin for a more exotic variation.
Tip: Prepare extra quantities of this hummus recipe—it can be refrigerated, covered, for up to 1 week and frozen for up to 3 months
People who buy 'organic' by default are not very price conscious . Their priorities are more focused on the health benefit rather than the price. The promotion has to be focused more on the benefits of eating organic.
None at all, that's an old wive's tail - since that time we have discovered that in fact it increases her chances of getting reproductive cancers. If you get it done before she goes into heat, your chances are far better that she won't.
If she is in heat while you want to spay, call your vet and arrange with them, there is a hormone they can give her that stops the "heat" and they can spay.
