yahoo health?

my doctor wants me to take Fosamax for treatment of osteoporosis but I am not sure this drug is safe enough..anyone have any thing to say good or bad about this drug?

WriterMan answers:

Look, if your doctor described to you a drug, you should take this drug, because your doctor is the most suitable one to advise you and know your conditions and know your medical history
You must trust him
your position in the medicin or pharmaceutical called POOR ADHERENCE
As you wish, you can see everything about FOSAMAX on

http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/alendron_cp.htm

And according to FDA (it is a U.S.A organization called Food and Drug Administration)
see this

What happened to the Yahoo Health Quinolones adverse reaction message board?

When I click http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/quinolones/ it now says the board no longer exists. It was a heavily used board.

WriterMan answers:

It appears that it has been deleted either by the owner or by Yahoo Groups but no one seems to know for sure.
I thought it was a valuable resource and I wish it would be restored.

Chris asks…

To people who post questions in Yahoo health:- Would you ask strangers in the street for health advice?

What is the difference? I know that some people have difficulties getting medical care, but how is this a substitute for a doctor?

WriterMan answers:

I wondered this too, but I must admit I've done it once.
It's designed to share experiences, like if you have an illness that maybe doesn't need medical attention everyone here can suggest different ways to cure yourself etc.
Also, if you have something serious it's nice to talk about it with people who wont judge you face to face and have gone through similar things.
For example, I am pregnant & the ladies (and some gents) in the pregnancy forum are very helpful on a lot of topics.
I imagine it's the same in the health forum.
So although it's maybe a bit odd, yahoo answers is more a community and the advice generally does make sense and help.
