Sinus Treatment - What's The Most Effective Treatment For Sinus Infection?

Top 5 Home Remedies To Cure Sinus Infection Naturally:

1. Vaporizers -- Use remedies such as menthol and eucalyptus with the vaporizers. Medicated vapor rub is another option before bed time.

2. Cool Air Mister -- They add water and moisture to the air. These are good for very dry areas of the house or basements.

3. Air Conditioner -- In the summer, when it’s hot and stuffy, try using the air conditioner for your sinuses. You’d be surprised at how it not only cools you off, but improves your breathing as well.

4. Saline/Ocean Nasal Spray -- Can be purchased at any cosmetic store in the medication isle. Look for the ones that are all natural (containing no medicine). These are very effective if used often enough.

5. Other Sinus Remedies -- Eucalyptus oil, rosemary, and lemongrass (natural essenses/oils). Also Soups, Spices and Hot Stuff... Anything that you can slurp that is hot and spicy or contains garlic, pepper, or horseradish root, etc. is very effective in the draining sinuses.

Any non-antibiotic treatment plan ideas for sinus infection?

My partner has a bad sinus infection and he's unable to take antibiotics.

We've got a doctor's apt next week, but I'm wondering if anyone has any herbal or holistic ideas on treatment for this infection which may help?

Anything you've tried or heard of we'll give a go.

Thanks!

WriterMan answers:

There have been a number of studies looking at the effects of antibiotics on sinus infections. A Swiss study showed no benefit from antibiotics in either symptom scores or duration. A more recent British study showed only a marginal effect, but the authors concluded it was not sufficient to justify their use. For that reason myself and a minority of other doctors have declined to prescribe an antibiotic routinely in patients with sinus infections anyway!

There seems to be little that effects their outcome, whatever you use 75% of patients have recovered by 2 weeks anyway. Those that persist beyond 4 weeks sometimes benefit from membrane stabilisers usually nasal steroids.

What is hte treatment to a sinus infection??

I think I have a sinus infection. What is the treatment of a sinus infection? A shot? Medicine? Or what?
Thanks

Hello Randa. I use to suffer from sinus infections every year around this time. My doctor introduced my to an antibiotic called "Z-pack". Its a packet of 3 pills that you take over a three day period. It works so fast and it relieves your pain within hours of taking it. It is by prescription, but it is the best. I took it for about 3 sinus infections and now I dont even get them anymore. It is as if the medication helped build up my immune system. Ask your Doctor or nurse. I am sure that they have heard of it.

I hope this helps.. and I hope that you feel better.
