Recently laid off from her job and suffering from Diabetes and asthma, Vicky Jackson faces a lot of hard issues. Once she lost her job in NV a few months back, she lost her insurance, as well, and several of her medication cost a lot.

"Having to select between meals, house payments, and the utilities|power|gas bill|electric bill, I at times do not take my drugs," the 33 -year-old whispered. She can not be skipping her drugs since it leaves her out of breath and light headed.

After contacting an independent prescription assistance company, she is fully on her route to receiving the prescription drug help that she desires. The recession and the political discussion over health care restructuring have caused a number of of the pharmaceutical companies to loosen up their program procedure.
Like most pharmaceutical companies Merck for instance, operates a prescription assistance program that provides medicines, for free, to persons who qualify. You have got to have no health insurance or your medical insurance coverage is too little. A few months ago Merck increased the income guidelines from 200 % of the federal poverty level to 400 %.

Two other companies, Pfizer Inc. and AstraZeneca P.L.C., just announced they would ease their guidelines and allow unemployed persons to sign up, in spite of of how much they used to take home. They still need to give confirmation that they are out of a job.

Bureaucracy remains a chief obstacle, however, since many patients need medicine from many organizations and each company has their specific long forms that you have to fill out. It's often a complicated process and each drug company is a little different. Largely organizations require the doctor of medicine to join in the process and as a rule still require verification of wages. Denials for not completing the forms right are not uncommon.

The Partnership for Prescription Assistance, an industry-sponsored group, claims it has helped over 5,1  million people over the last   years locate programs that help persons without health insurance obtain their prescription drugs for free.
At present, she uses several different ways to get the help with prescriptions that she wants. She receives one  of the generic prescription medicine she needs at CVS for $4 each, per month and 3  of the especially expensive brand name drugs she gets for free directly from the pharmaceutical company.

She is still looking for employment and states "I'll take anything". The most recent time she worked was in the fitting section for the light company. Nevertheless, she is delighted to have some assistance."I am on unemployment and I have no insurance" she said. "Being able to acquire help with prescription medicine is great."
