What is snoring?

Snoring normally sounds breathy. The deep moaning that comes about whenever someone is asleep is what produces the snore noise.
It's usually harmless.  But if the snorer is awakening intermittently throughout the night due to shortage of air, followed by snoring - may be a symptom of something much more significant.

So why do people snore?
Snoring may occur from a deviated septum, sleep apnea, or as common as becoming too drunk.
In most of the instances, it develops when the uvula falls to the back of the throat - obscuring the passing of air.
This doesn't prevent the lungs from craving oxygen - so the person commences to inhale more deeply and drive the oxygen through.
This leads the uvula to vibrate which usually is that noise the majority are used to.

Traits such as age, overweight, alcohol could all lead to snoring.
