A team of researchers, led by Pier Paolo Pandolfi, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, has identified a new type of cellular senescence (i.e., irreversible arrest of cell growth) and determined a way to enhance it to suppress prostate tumor development and growth in mice. Previous work by Pandolfi and colleagues determined that inactivation of the protein Pten leads to a senescence response that opposes tumorigenesis...
Twenty per cent of men can feel distressed at the prospect of having a biopsy after finding out they have a raised PSA level, and nine per cent continue to feel this way even after being informed they don't have cancer, concluded UK researchers who recommended doctors clearly explain the psychological effects of prostate cancer screening to their male patients and how it can lead to anxiety and distress. You can read about the findings in a paper published online on 6 April in the British Journal of Cancer...
There's more than one way to kill a cancer cell. Cliff Berkman is working on a better way -- one that specifically targets prostate cancer cells and causes a type of natural death that spares surrounding tissues from damage. In a recent paper in the journal Cancer Letters, he describes a method that delivers to the cells a chemical that, when exposed to a certain type of light, prompts the cells to die and disappear with minimal side effects.

You have been given quite a bit of poor advice here. If you try to self treat yourself for prostate cancer you will be making a serious mistake. Your slight rise in PSA is not really significant and is something that needs to be discussed with your urologist or oncologist anyways and not on Yahoo answers. Suggest you join and read the ACOR prostate cancer list at or access sci.med.prostate.cancer on Usenet accessed through your newsreader or Google groups.

August 31, 2010 By Brian Bujdos There have been ongoing news reports, and now a new book, regarding the overtreatment of prostate cancer. It seems many urologists and other surgeons are recommending for men to have their prostate removed on the first detection of prostate cancer. And on top of that, the “C” word is enough to scare the bejesus out of just about anyone, so who could blame men for wanting to take aggressive steps. As most older men know, either through personal experience or by reading up on the increasingly controversial subject of prostate cancer, problems with urination and increased prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels (determined through a blood test) are typically the first indication that something could be awry with the prostate. High PSA levels trigger an alarm that typically results in a doctor recommending that a patient be tested for prostate cancer, which means a biopsy. A recent study released in the Journal of Urology set out to warn men that biopsies...
Nothing bad will happen. Tamoxifen adds estrogen to the body (which is where the link to uterine cancer comes from - that is one of those rare side effects) as it blocks estrogen in the breast. So the standard of care is to take tamoxifen for 5 years to protect the breast from cancer. Some women opt not to take the drug at all. It also is not a drug like birth control pills where you have to adhere to a cycle or your hormones will get all out of whack.
I can't believe that these type of things are going ungoverned

Over 80% of men diagnosed with prostate cancer are over 65 and half of all cases occur in men over 75.
It's extremely rare in men under 50, and so rare in young men that there are no statistics available for the disease incidence in men under 35.

First class on BA isn't bad at all...
First and only time I flew BA in First (I got upgraded, one of the perks of working for an airline...), they had a good selection of canapés and offered four starters, four mains, four dessert and four snacks. I remember there was lobster, lamb rack, cornish chicken, and something I can't remember.
We were also served an afternoon "breakfast" in the British tradition, with assorted teas and little sandwiches, scones served with clotted cream and strawberry jam, fine pastries, etc. Alcohol selection was very good, all complimentary, with excellent wines and champagnes various liqueurs and fine single malt whiskeys...
I hope you're not paying full First Class fare!
A number of different tests are used to help diagnose prostate cancer:Digital rectal examination - by inserting a gloved finger into the back passage your doctor can actually feel the prostate gland, to find out whether it has any lumps or is larger than it should be. Even if it is enlarged, this does not mean that it is cancerous.PSA blood test - if the level of Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) in your blood is too high, this suggests that there is a prostate cancer, but there are several other conditions which cause an increase in blood PSA levels.Ultrasound - a small probe is inserted into the back passage and used to do an ultrasound scan, showing the exact size of the prostate. However, the definitive test is done by taking a biopsy. This involves taking a tiny sample of tissue from the prostate. A probe is inserted into the back passage and a small hollow needle jabbed into the prostate itself. Studying the tissue sample taken by the needle can determine whether there is a tumour and how aggressive it is. If a tumour is found, an x-ray can reveal whether there is any cancer which has spread to the bones near the prostate.

Sorry, but I think using so much solvent IS a waste of money. AND natural resources. And it's bad for the environment. And if it is the THC that has the healing properties, why is it not possible to extract it in another way? Why does the method of extraction matter? And no, I won't get fat from eating fatty acids. I will get fat from not burning all the calories that I eat.

If someone has an enlraged prostate one day whould it be necessary for him to have a cancer one day ?
Not sure. Sorry.
Denisedd is right. The problem with prostate cancer is that you don't feel it and it is very slow growing. Men who get prostate cancer often die from other things before the cancer gets achance to kill them. Protate Cancer can be treated and often cured when treated early. There are tests they give men over 40, for indications of protate trouble.

I'm not sure about sensitivity and specificity. I don't understand how your prostate can change so much in a few days. Not possible
Likely what is happening is that the different reading is due to the people doing the ultrasound. There is variability there
Best bet is to get your PSA level checked and have a doctor stick their finger in your butt to feel the prostate.
