You need to be eating enough calories to lose fat but not so little that your metabolism slows down. I cant tell you the exact combo to use, simply because everyone is different. Its really hard to get your macros where they need to be from day to day and meal to meal. It gets old and confusing as well. Im going to post a free link for a mealplan that cycles carbs and fats with absolutely no calorie counting, its based on portion sizes and eating the right things on the right days. It does work very well if you couple it with exercise. The only thing that isnt really gone into detail is the list of veggies you can eat on any day of the program but if you stick to things like onions, tomatoes, spinach, broccoli, lettuce, mushrooms, snap peas, cucumbers, carrots, radishes. Things like that, that isnt the whole list but all i can think of off the top of my head. These are veggies you can eat with no limit.
To answer your question, for fat loss, you can do differnt things. 50% carbs 30% protein and 20% fat is one option. theres also the 55, 25,20 options, or 40, 30, 30 options. The carbs need to be pretty much all low GI carbs except at certain times, the proteins always need to be lean, and the fats should be good fats as much as possible. Its a real pain to do this but that can give you something to shoot for if you want to try and find mealplans to match one of those. The link below is alot easier lol.
