I find it more comfortable to place the weight behind your head because you still support your neck. Very often when hands are crossed in front of you your neck can feel strained because you are tensing it on the way up. If it doesn't bother you, you can do it in front, you need to just pay close attention to make sure of that.

i also have a hiatal hernia and i have no problems doing ab exercises.. i dont know how severe yours is, but i find that as long as i stick to the diet the doctor recommends and take the purple pill when things get bad, that exercise has no effect on mine.. but if you cant do any ab exercises, im not sure how you would be able to work your abs

not at all. i used to have lower back pain from more traditional exercises (crunches, etc...) but since adopting this style I've had much better posture and a noticeably more muscled core. and feel much better!

I don't believe that you will find a precise answers e.g. exercise & diet for 5 weeks and you will see great abs. There is a ton of articles on the web trying to answer this question & almost all of them have some answers. Personally, I believe that you need to find a program that combines proper diet & exercise techniques. I found this website useful - it concentrates on free & honest product reviews, quite refreshing for a change.
