Clinical Depression
Just what is Clinical Depression? Clinical Depression is a serious illness. This illness can affect the way you feel, the way you act and the way you think. Like other conditions it is a disease and doesn't make you a loser. It is a condition that must be addressed. Functioning like you did in the past will not be easy. It may be that once interesting activities now seem bland and a waste of time. Clinical Depression results in long term hopelessness and feelings of remorse. This illness does not simply come and go. You won't feel sad for a few days and then just get over it. Clinical Depression is long term.
Every part of your normal life can be impacted by Clinical Depression. A change in thought patterns and confusion are common. This unforgiving illness also changes your mood and behavior. You can also experience eating and sleeping disorders that will turn your life upside down. It's possible that instead of being able to do your work or to focus on a task like school, you'll wonder how it was ever possible. Clinical Depression will specifically affect your ability to deal with those around you. You will find that you often do not feel like yourself.
Clinical Depression is not a personal problem like always being late or being lazy. Wishing won't make it disappear. There are no quick fixes like the power of positive thinking. A medical treatment of Clinical Depression that can go on for weeks, months or years is required. If not treated it can lead individuals to attempt suicide. In many cases you may feel you know why you are depressed. However, this illness is complex and can be caused by many different factors. Typically, it is a group of factors that lead to Clinical Depression. It can be psychological, perhaps genetic and even associated with the environment in which you live.
Biological issues such as chemical imbalances can lead to Clinical Depression. It's also known that one of the leading causes is stress. Rather you are under stress at school or work it can have an alarming affect on your body and psychological condition . Our lives are filled with all sorts of potential pressures that can wreak havoc with your system. Alcohol and drug use also can play a major role in the development of Clinical Depression. Don't hesitate to consult a medical professional if you or anyone you know shows signs of this disease.

with clinical depression, it takes over your life, your body, your world, like a parasite you can't get rid of without help. It effects everybody differently and in some people instead of manifesting in an emotional way, it comes about in a physical way which some people recognize easier. In fact, a lot of people are not diagnosed as having been depressed because one of their only symptoms is aches and pains.
weight gain yes, the rest, ask your doctor.

Depression - caused by chemical imbalances of serotonin, and other important neurotranmitters which balance emotions is a serious issue. Psychologists state that depression is a unhealthy state which we 'can' work through in order to experience greater levels of happiness. Some who daily experience deep chronic depression may require both prescribed medication along with 'Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy {M.B.C.T.') provided by Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapists and there are some who experience chronic-but not deeply chronic depression who work well with M.B.C.T. alone. Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD along with Psychologists Mark Williams, John Teasdale, and Zindel Segal have authored an excellent self-help book called: "The Mindful Way through Depression: Freeing Yourself from Chronic Unhappiness". Mindfulness, a simple yet powerful way of paying attention to your most difficult emotions and life experiences, can help you break the cycle of chronic unhappiness once and for all, that you may experience greater levels of happiness. In 'The Mindful Way through Depression', it is explained why our usual attempts to "think" our way out of a bad mood or "just snap out of it" leads us deeper into the downward spiral of depression. Through very insightful lessons-drawn from both mindfulness meditative practices and cognitive therapy - Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD and Psychologists- Mark Williams, John Teasdale, and Zindel Segal demonstrate how to sidestep the negative habits that lead to unhappiness and despair, including self-blame and rumination so you can effectively face life's challenges with much resilience.
What a load of fucking bull shit. This man should be shot.
Great work. Very informative video.
I understand, I really do, but I think we're reading a little more into Jimminy's comment, maybe it's just jump on Jimminy night on FF and missed the memo.
and thank you for taking time to share, regards Don
this can be either situation...some people develop this based on the stress a person can be going through in their lives..this can be very extreme stress..which causes this chemical imbalance....the other type is when genetics can play a role....where you are more susceptible to depression if family members have had it...but how you control it is up to you....therapy...medication...are great ways to do this....

In most states you can call 211 this works the same as 411 you tell them what you have said here and they can give you places that you can call for help.
I'm wondering if maybe your symptoms of fatigue and the reason Ultram helps is if you have chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia or some other autoimmune disorder. Have they checked you out for anything like that before going to depression? I can believe there is some situational depression involved due to loosing custody for your kids but there could be some underlying physical conditions as well.
You really have to give antidepressants longer than a couple weeks to work so wouldn't get samples from a GP to "try". That's kind of like playing Russian Roulette. Antidepressant medications are very specific for what kind of depression and symptoms are manifest in the person.
There are combinations of SSRI and Trycyclic Antidepressants that work well for the physical symptoms and fatigue of fibro and some other conditions. It sounds like you really need a work up by a doc who doesn't jump to conclusions before treating with just an antidepressant. And no, they aren't all evil or make you worse, if they are prescribed correctly and for the correct diagnosis.
The other thing, and I don't know you but just sharing this, alcohol or other drugs are a big no no if you are being evaluated for any kind of mood disorder or on medications for the same. Lots of interactions that can be very negative.
I don't care... If it makes this horrible feeling go away, I'll take it.
Andi, take it from me when I say that's awesome you were on the Dean's list! I can honestly say I wish I was. Unfortunately I never had a scholarship. I always wondered what would it be like to get one of those. I know you did mention you have an A.S. degree. What does A.S. stand for? And yes you are beautiful & intelligent.
Humans take basic primate attributes and push them into novel realms. Other primates kill with premeditation and in groups. We kill using remote drones half a world a way and go home and hugs our kids. Other primates have a theory of mind. Humans are novel in that we have a secondary theory of mind, we know what the other people know about what other people know. Other species also follow a tit-for-tat strategies. Humans can handle that humans have different goals and can adjust. Other primates have empathy. Humans abstract, we can feel empathy for other species, horses painted on canvas, or even animals that don't exist. Other species take pleasure in anticipation and exhibit gratification postponement. Humans can delay gratification for years waiting for a reward, to the extent that we'll follow a religion that promises a reward after death. Other primates have culture. They transfer tool making and they can transfer tendencies for violence. Humans have a much more complex culture, and we'll kill out of ideology and theology.
When you are happy
So even if I'm taking t4 and t3 and labs have shown everything is fine, I still might be suffering? I do have these issues with worthlessness and low dopamine. Does that mean I'm having too much sugar in my diet?
