You can make a tincture using glycerine instead of alcohol. This way you won't have problems with the alcohol killing the bacteria.
You can get glycerine at a drugstore like Walgreen's or Eckerd's or Rite Aide. If you don't see it, ask the pharmacist to order it for you. I don't think it's too expensive. Or you can order it online. I think soapmaking suppliers may carry it.
Have some examples of food that has been flown from around the world and compare to local produce which is not only fresher but is important to local growers to sell.

well...it is actually still technically winter at the moment. So cold/rainy weather is to be expected. And frankly I will take this rain now versus the 19 degree lows we had in January any day.
The bay area is usually cool and/or rainy until at least early april. You can't really call our weather cold when it gets into negative degrees back in the mid-west. They laugh at us when we say it is 30 and cold. It is what it is. And frankly we could use the rain right now. Snow pack in tahoe has been very low, which means not a lot of water for the summertime and all the rain % around the bay have also been low. We need the rain.
I would get used to thhis weather, as this is what it is normally like this time of year.
The bay area really doesn't "warm up" until maybe mid-april or early may.
Herbal Juices for what purpose so that could give you some methods to prepare them accordingly.
I believe in alternative medicine, sometimes we do need pharmaceuticals, but I do believe every thing they are doing to our food and water is in some way hurting us as well, and doctors over prescribe medications, especially pain mediation's and antibiotics. All they seem to know is, have a problem take a pill.
My numbers my be off but not buy much unfortunately, you have to wonder why 1 in about every 156 children has autism. Is there something in our food, what we drink, prescriptions we take, or is it people who have taken so called recreational drugs that is the reason for those scary numbers?
As long as there is money to be made, they would rather give us a pill than cure us, let's face it, it's more lucrative.
Where are they growing? since this is winter in the US, are they in containers?
: )
Temperatures have warmed into the upper 50s under mostly sunny skies in the Norman area. Clouds will increase...

If you can, pot the rosemary separately. It prefers drier soil than others. The other 3 will do better together, as they like moister, richer soil than the rosemary.
Mints (includes lemon balm, horehound, and all the various mints), Thyme, Sage, Chervil and Dill are also good choices for a window sill herb garden.
The Dill and Chervil can go where the rosemary was. The thyme and sage should go in their own pots as well as they prefer drier, less rich soil as well. You can try potting the rosemary and the thyme together, but sage is rather bushy so it should be in it's own pot. Mint should always be in it's own pot because it will choke out any other plants.
Don't let the leaves touch the glass in the window. In the winter, the cold will freeze and damage the leaves. In the summer, the glass will heat up and burn them.
Remember that an indoor garden will never grow as vigorously as one outside. You'll have to extra careful about watering as indoor plants require less water and it's very easy to overwater herbs, especially the rosemary, thyme and sage. If the edges of leaves start getting browned or it seems to be wilting, though the soil moisture is alright, you want to add a humidity tray to increase the humidity around the leaves. It's a just a tray or flat plate, add some pebbles and water. Make sure the pots do not sit in the water, but rest on top of the pebbles.
Consider supplementing the light your herbs get with a grow light. You can get a clamp style work light and a grow bulb.
