Acupuncture and Infertility – Needle or Needless Therapy?
Acupuncture & Infertility – Tracing Its Roots
Acupuncture originated in China over 1,000 years ago. Many people in the Western medical practice see it as an effective procedure to address a wide range of health problems. It can remedy muscle tension, improve skin condition and get rid of smoking, to name a few. Reports from latest studies reveal that acupuncture is highly beneficial to couples with infertility issues.
The Western View
Acupuncture may be popular, but some Westerners still doubt its effectiveness. No scientific evidence is available to support acupuncture and, as a result, many healthcare professionals are reluctant to recommend it. But many researchers are already investigating the issue, according to the National Institutes of Health in the United States.
Health Hazards
Acupuncture, when done by a trained acupuncturist, is normally painless. Only a small few have reported adverse outcomes. Some of the usual risks linked with acupuncture include minimal bleeding, organ puncturing, broken or forgotten needles, and the spread of infection. You can do away with these if a professional practitioner does the job. However, people who have bleeding disorders and those who use blood thinning agents should not use acupuncture.
A Single or Complementary Process
Acupuncture, when used as a solo treatment, is regarded as an alternative method in treating fertility concerns. It may also be considered a reliable add-on to the modern fertility programs we have today. When used by itself, acupuncture benefits those who have functional problems, like intermittent ovulation, better. By itself, effectiveness in treating structural problems, as with sperm duck blockage, could be weak.
Some acupuncture practitioners say that acupuncture treatments are best complemented by the use of Chinese herbs. Individuals undergoing medical treatments should consult their doctor if they are taking or intend to take herbs. Some herbal medications prevent the proper functioning of some fertility drugs and processes.
Acupuncture and Fertility - Effectiveness Factor?
How acupuncture works as a cure for infertility is still debatable. However, practitioners emphasize this age-old treatment's ability to normalize the body's functions. It boosts the flow of blood into reproductive organs and helps stabilize hormonal functions. As a result, ovarian function is improved among females and sperm production is increased among males.
Acupuncture has a positive effect on women who use it in combination with fertility boosting procedures. Some say that the stress that comes with fertility procedures can also be lessened with acupuncture. Women undergoing IVF, or in vitro fertilization, boost their conception rate with the introduction of acupuncture into the program.
The Selection Process
In order to practice acupuncture, doctors are required to complete more or less 300 hours of special training before they are awarded a certification. Professionals looking to branch out to acupuncture need to pass the board exam first and complete between 2000 and 3000 hours of training to be licensed in this field.
More and more people are seeing the benefits and are now practicing acupuncture. There are a few things to consider before seeking the services of practitioners. A background check on the selected acupuncture expert must be done prior to agreeing to any procedure. A practitioner should have the training and certification required by the state or other government authority where he or she conducts practice.Reliable recommendations for acupuncture services would be family and friends who've benefited from the them.
Would-be patients should first inquire about ballpark total expenses just to be prepared with the costs early on. Many individuals are relieved that some insurance plans cover charges for acupuncture treatments.
What To Watch Out For
One has to go through several acupuncture sessions in order to attain the best results. To get the best out of acupuncture, regular visits must me made to the chosen practitioner, which can run between a few weeks to a few months. A visit to the acupuncturist normally goes on for an hour or so, as this time will be used to discuss your present health condition and entertain any question about the entire procedure.

Get Pregnant Naturally and Cure Infertility with the Pregnancy Miracle 5 Step System
Try getting the IVF clinic to put on paper that they recommended the acupuncture, to increase the chances of the IVF working or something like that. If you can get someone to say that they advised it then the medical fund may cover it.
Congratulation! I was wondering if you took the herbs during pregnancy as well? I am a little leary of taking the un-regulated herbs during the two week wait and during pregnancy.....

Varicocele and infertility are related. A varicocele is a widening of the veins along the cord that holds up a man's testicles.
Varicose veins are veins that have become enlarged and tortuous. The term commonly refers to the veins on the leg, although varicose veins can occur elsewhere.
Acupuncture, combined with herbal remedies, is sometimes used as an alternative method of fertility treatments. Whether and how it actually works is debatable, but more and more women turn to acupuncturists...
Acupuncture and Fertility: How are Two Related
I hate ordinary doctors... they always want to consider anything else than ordinary western medicine as "unsure". But what´s more unsure than IVF with 30% success rate??? And plus it´s very traumatic and invasive for a woman!
laky you and your husband congrat to both of u.
I'd love to help. My husband and I tried for 6 years! I am now 7 weeks pregnant.
I KNOW it is due to acupuncture. I started acupuncture last May and was pregnant by July. Unfortunately, I had a very early miscarriage. I stopped acupuncture for quite a while (went thru a major depression) and started again in January and am now pregnant again. First off, get a referral! You need a good acupuncturist who has lots of experience in getting women pregnant. My acupuncturist has 2 books full of women she has helped conceive.
You may want to consider IUI instead of IVF and combine it with acupuncture.
I changed my diet too in January and started working out a lot more. I actually started feeling great and losing weight. My body was really starting to look like I wanted and then I fell pregnant. But that's okay!
Another thing, I KNOW how depressing and frustrating it can be. Try to focus on your relationship with your husband. Take up a hobby together. HAVE FUN! Our relationship was probably the best it had been in years when I got pregnant.
And lastly, find a fertility doctor you trust, can talk to and feel comfortable with. Not someone who tells you what to do. Someone who gives you information and lets you make your own decisions.
Trust yourself and trust your body.
If no problems have been found, it will happen.
Lots of luck to you.
it worked for me ... i have a 2 year old son from my 6th ivf cycle and first ever cycle doing acupuncture !!!!!!!! it really helped my lining get nice and thick and it relaxed me too !!! id say def give it a try. when i told my re that i was doing it he laughed at me .. well now he has an acupuncturist on his staff !!!!!!!
There are so many! Please,See a specialist. But I think adoption is a very good option, also! There are many unwanted children on this earth! Good-Luck!
Good luck! I hope it works for you.
You need help- I remember you... pyscho!!!
How do you miss a 15% chance? Well, there's an 85% chance you WON'T conceive. So, don't be surprised that it is going to take more than 5 cycles. Most couples need 6 to 12 months.
You say you don't believe in "not thinking about it", but your cycles have now gone haywire since you've started "trying". I guarantee, your mind controls your body a lot more than you think.
After saying all that, I used acupuncture and got pregnant. My husband and I tried for 6 YEARS. We finally started with acupuncture and I got pregnant twice. Teh first time I miscarried, but I am happy to say that I am now a mother to a 6 month old.
Yes, it can definitely help. But you need to be sure and find an acupuncturist that has experience in infertility, not just any acupuncturist. And, even using acpuncture, it still took us 3 to 4 cycles before it worked.
EDIT - I didn't get pregnant till I was 38. I know you feel in a hurry, but that will only make the pressure worse. Relax, stay healthy, do acupuncture and have fun with your partner.
Acupuncture treatment may not be accepted but couples who desire to have a child, acupuncture fertility treatment may give the results they’ve always hoped for.
Google, acupuncturists in (name of your town or near by city), and you will get results.
I have a friend who goes for stress and muscle pain and she likes it a lot.
